More about the Practice Deck

One of the most powerful things you can do for your physical and mental health is to build (or maintain) your strength.

Building your capacity doesn’t mean long hours in the gym, weird diets, or pushing past pain. Our approach blends the research on strength and exercise with mindfulness and compassionate cueing. We believe strength is a feeling, not a look.

If you are brand new, follow our 60-card program to gradually build your strength over time. This progressive series starts with the basics of exercise and mindfulness.

More experienced practitioners are encouraged to create their own sequences and strength programs using the cards. This deck makes for an incredible teaching tool as well. Hello visual learners!

Included are six 35-minute video classes taught by Kathryn for even more instruction and motivation.

Practice along with us!

The Mindful Strength Practice Deck provides motivating prompts for holistic exercise. This tiny deck imaginatively and clearly supports an inquisitive embodiment into mindfulness, strength education, and movement creativity in 60 beautifully designed cards. Pick a card, any card and you’ll transform your day into meaningful motion.

The Mindful Strength Practice Deck supports you along a steady journey of physical challenges and awareness activities that inspire you to stretch beyond your comfort level and into the realm where adaptation occurs. Each card reflects Kathryn’s accepting nature and captures the importance of whole-person care in any exercise program. You’ll feel remarkably supported through gentle words of wisdom and insightful self-inquires that guide you to a stronger you.

I love how The Mindful Strength cards teach you strength-building exercises, vestibular drills for improving coordination, somatic movements, and breath practices. The pain and exercise science nuggets in the cards bring everything together for a well-rounded and embodied learning experience. There’s also wonderful versatility in that you can learn by randomly “picking a card from the deck” or following 30-40 minute video practice taught by Kathryn. You need these cards!

“Thank you for the amazing classes, as always! I had a baby in April, and my body and capacities changed SO dramatically. It has been so great to take your classes as I started moving again — the emphasis on what you feel instead of what you do really helped me reconnect to a body that felt foreign to me.

How we approach strength…

Building up, not breaking down: When you think of strength training what do you imagine? Bodybuilders, fitness classes, dieting, getting yelled at in the gym? We combine the powerful exercises of strength training with a mindful and compassionate approach.

Slow progress over time: If you are looking for a quick fix, this isn’t the program for you. Just like the plants in your garden grow slowly over time, you can’t rush your own progress and adaptation. The cards have been intentionally sequenced to provide you with steady and consistent exercises.

More than the physical: Strengthening your muscles and bones will affect more than your physical structures. When people feel strong they feel more capable, empowered, and grounded in their own selves.

Props Needed:
