Rest and recovery strategies are really important during strength training. They help you progress towards your goals and build your confidence – especially if you’ve pushed it to your max! But rest can feel difficult to find and overwhelming to start.
This session will share a progressive rest training approach to help your muscles relax, body recharge and your heart/mind renew itself over time. Each class will use a bolster, blanket, self-massage ball and yoga blocks.
Come prepared to sail away into rest.
Workshop Schedule and Facilitator
Before teaming up with Mindful Strength Chris Bourke worked in mental health and addictions for over a decade and roots his teaching in that experience – placing a strong emphasis on practices that respect, support, and encourage an individual’s innate resilience. Chris has also completed some training with Neil Pearson and has a specific interest in the bio-psycho-social perspective and the poly vagal theory.

Building Accessible and Enriching Recovery Practices that Supports Your Growth
Over the course of this 3-hour session, we will explore how small, subtle and sustainable practices can be quite powerful in your road to rest. We will look at what can interrupt rest and make it hard to access, as well as the calming antidotes for those everyday challenges.
Chris will provide you with a step-by-step strategy that will help you include “rest days” or moments in your daily schedule. The session will be broken down into three components:
1:00 – 1:10 – Welcome
