Mindful Strength Teacher’s Immersion online Course
About the Online Teacher’s Immersion
This course is a combination of pre-recorded material for you to progress through at your own pace and live calls with Kathryn and the guest lecturers. The pre-recorded course is a combination of instructional videos teaching specific movements, classes to practice along with to integrate the information, articles, audio recordings, and readings from the course books. There are also quizzes that will keep you on track to ensure that the important details do not slip through the cracks.
This immersion also includes ten live calls with Kathryn your wonderful guest lecturers (more on them as you scroll down.) The live calls will be a combination of webinar style presentation, Q&A, and group interaction. You will be asked to comment on the materials covered that week and occasionally teach something to the rest of the group (don’t worry you will have time to prepare, and if you are nervous we can talk.) These live calls will be recorded, however attendance is important for optimal engagement and learning. Live calls will be held on Wednesday’s from 12-2pm EST EST, dates will be released shortly.
In between your live calls and pre-recorded course you will be able to check in with the immersion Facebook group to see what other people are learning and talking about. You will also be able to post videos of movements in this group for further collaboration and feedback.
Segments of the online course will be downloadble, while other parts are stream only. You get access to the materials forever.

Q: I’ve taken a 200 hr yoga training, but I’m not a full time teacher, can I join the immersion?
A: Yes, you qualify for the immersion you don’t need specific teaching experience to apply.
Q: How many hours per week do I need to set aside?
A: We recommend you set aside 5 hours a week to complete the course work.
Q: I’m not a yoga teacher, I’m a massage therapist or personal trainer hoping to learn more about strength, movement and mobility, can I join the immersion?
A: Yes, as long as you are also interested in learning about some aspects of the yoga practice. You will bring a new perspective to the immersion, and we love diversity.
Q: Do you have any scholarship or sliding scale options?
A: Yes, we have a full scholarship and a handful of sliding scale spots available. These spots are available by application only.
Q: I’m not very techy and online courses kind of scare me, what type of support do you offer?
A: We have a wonderful tech manager named Joey who will make sure you understand how to use the online course, we have you covered.
Q: I don’t have strength training experience, will I be left in the dust?
A: Absolutely not, the whole point is to learn about strength training and most people will not have a lot of gym expereince.
Q: Will this course give me tools and strategies that I can use right away in my practice and teaching?
A: Yes! You will be able to integrate many of the movements as you learn them, plus your brain power is going to be super charged and you will be able to think more creatively about movement and science.
Q: I can pay the deposit, but I might need a payment plan for the rest, is that possible?
A: Yes, once you have made your deposit we can talk about a personalized plan that works for you. You must be fully paid up before the immersion begins.
Q: I live in a different time zone, will I be able to join the live calls?
A: The live calls will happen on a selection of Wednesday’s from 12-1:30pm EST. I’ve chosen this time to try and include as many time zones as possible.

Early bird $950 CAD, deposit must be paid by Sept 1st (payment plans available).
Regular price $1,250 CAD, applies to anyone paying the deposit after Sept 1st (payment plans available)
Online course begins Sept 23rd, and our first live call will be Sept 30th. Course ends December 16th.
Participants will be required to use Zoom for online calls, this is a free service. The rest of the course will be available on the same platform as our Membership.
After submitting your application you will hear back from us within 5 days. Upon acceptance you will be sent a payment link, all payments will be made online.
Prep week begins Sept 23rd
Wednesday calls are as follows, Sept 30, Oct 7, 21, 28, Nov 11, 18, 25, Dec 2, 9, 16. All calls are from 12-2pm EST (NYC/Toronto time). Some calls will be closer to 90 minutes, depending on how many questions get sent in.

Dr. Greg Lehman – Pain Science
Dr. Greg Lehman is a physiotherapist, chiropractor, and strength and conditioning specialist. He teaches a two day course called Reconciling Pain Science With Biomechanics worldwide and is a sought after speaker. He has trained with Professor Stuart McGill in his Occupational Biomechanics Laboratory subsequently publishing more than 20 peer reviewed papers in the manual therapy and exercise biomechanics field. Greg’s strong biomechanics and neuroscience background have led him to believe that successful injury management and prevention can use simple techniques.
Amber Karnes – Movement Accessibility
Amber Karnes is the founder of Body Positive Yoga, the co-creator of Yoga For All Teacher Training, an Accessible Yoga Trainer and a force to be reckoned with in the yoga community. Amber is a Health At Every Size and self acceptance advocate who will empower you to live your life out loud without shame or apology—in the body you have today. Amber has over 10 years of experience teaching yoga and she has a special ability to make yoga and movement possible for everyone.
Jules Mitchell M.S. – Biomechanics
Jules Mitchell MS, CMT, ERYT500 is a Las Vegas based yoga teacher, educator and massage therapist. Her unique approach incorporates her extensive study in biomechanics with the modern application of yoga asana to help teachers develop their craft and empower them with education. Jules’s methods intend to achieve ease in movement through deliberate loading, thus her teachings integrate numerous modalities, balancing the somatic aspects of yoga with the most current exercise science. She leads workshops and continuing education courses worldwide, providing yoga schools with the most current research in biomechanics. Jules is the author of Yoga Biomechanics: Stretching Redefined, available now through Handspring Publishing. She is also adjunct faculty at Arizona State University where she serves as the yoga consultant on various research studies.
jamilah malika – Creating Positive Spaces
Jamilah Malika is a Mentorship Lead at New Leaf Foundation which does work to bring mindfulness and yoga-based tools into spaces that are least-served and often most stigmatized; increasing access to positive resources for youth who face violence, neglect, poverty and marginalization. As well as an artist and writer passionate about anti-oppression, jamilah is currently completing an MFA in Writing at the School of the Arts Institute of Chicago.
Kathryn Bruni-Young (she/her) has been teaching yoga and strength based movement since the age of 17. She began practicing Ashtanga at her mother’s studio in Toronto, and after experiencing some aches and pains decided to branch out and learn from other movement modalities. To date she has competed as a strength athlete, immersed herself in pain science and multidisciplinary movement education, sustained a successful podcast, led international workshops, and she continues to run an online business with her partner Kyle. Her main influences are Greg Lehman, Jules Mitchell, Neil Pearson, Ido Portal and all the guests she hosts on her podcast.
Kyle Pichie (he/him) has been teaching strength and conditioning since 2004, he has taught CrossFit, personal training, group fitness and he continues to run a youth weightlifting club. Kyle completed Kathryn’s YTT in 2014, and combines elements of his strength background with a more mindful and inclusive approach to exercise. He has years of experience training people in a gym setting, and offers more of a mindful workout approach. Kyle has taken over everything from shooting classes to video editing, technical support and podcast production for Mindful Strength. Kathryn and Kyle live in a countryside village in eastern Ontario (Canada), they travel together for international workshops, teach classes in their community, and produce a number of online courses, teacher education programs, and the Mindful Strength Membership.
